"My mother in law had a very faded, tiny picture that she has been carrying around in her wallet for years. Theo was able to bring it to life, he brought out the details that no one knew were there. My mother in law is absolutely thrilled and now has an A4 sized print as clear as if it had just been taken. Thanks Theo, definitely would recommend your service."
"I am amazed at the restoration of my family black and white photo from the 1950s. Not only did Theo improve on the original b/w but also invented a colour version! How did he know what colours the skin tones and clothing were? It's modern witchcraft! I would heartily recommend photo restoration with Theo. Many thanks. Roscoe 😀"
"Photo Restoration Rescue will be my absolute first choice again. Theo was so helpful restoring and resizing a small screen image to a photo print of just under 1 metre in length, a group photo that showed no distortions whatsoever. The detail in a quality matt finish is so life like, it feels like it was taken yesterday. Brilliant Theo, thank you 👍"

Everything you need to know before getting started.
No, you don't have to send the original. You can scan or photograph your image and send it to us digitally. That said, we strongly prefer to work from the original print where possible because scanning it ourselves at high resolution gives us far more detail to work with, resulting in a noticeably better restoration. If you're able to post it, we'll handle it with great care and return it to you untouched.
Absolutely, we love meeting our customers face to face. Please use the Make an Appointment form on our website to book a one-on-one session with Theo. This is a great opportunity to bring your photos in, discuss what you'd like restored, and get a clear idea of what's possible before committing to anything.
We are based in Melbourne, Victoria, but we service all of Australia. If you're not in Melbourne, no problem at all. Simply scan or photograph your image and send it digitally, or post your original photos to us via mail. We'll restore them and deliver your finished files back to you online, or return your originals by post.
It varies depending on the complexity of the work and how busy we are at the time. If you're in a hurry, just let us know, we will always try to work around your timeline. In quieter periods, a straightforward restoration can be turned around in as little as 24 hours. More complex restorations or busier periods may take 48 hours or longer. We'll always give you an honest timeframe upfront so there are no surprises.
Yes, this is one of our specialties. We take on restorations that others say can't be done. Torn, missing pieces, severe water damage, mould, extreme fading, we've seen it all. If for any reason we genuinely cannot restore a photo to a satisfactory standard, we will be completely upfront with you and you will not be charged, even if we've already attempted the repair. Your peace of mind matters more than the fee.
Never. All restoration work is performed on a digital copy. Your original photo is never touched, written on or altered in any way. If you post your original to us, it will be returned to you in exactly the same condition it arrived, we treat every photo as if it were our own.
Yes, colourisation is one of our most popular services. We manually apply natural, realistic colour to black and white photos by hand, not using automated AI filters. We research era-appropriate clothing colours, skin tones and environments to make the result look as authentic as possible. The results are often breathtaking.
We accept virtually everything, printed photos of any size, 35mm slides, negatives, documents, certificates and digital image files (JPG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC and more). For video, we convert VHS, Hi8, Digital 8, MiniDV, Betamax, VHS-C, 8mm film and most other analogue tape formats. If you're unsure whether we support your format, just ask, we're happy to help.
We ask for a 50% deposit before we begin work, this confirms you're happy to proceed after your free assessment. The remaining balance is only due once we've sent you a preview and you're completely happy with the result. If you're not satisfied, we offer free revisions until you are.
We deliver your high-resolution restored files digitally via a secure download link, ready to print, share or frame. If you'd prefer a physical copy, we can also deliver files on a USB drive or arrange a printed copy for an additional fee. Just let us know your preference when you get in touch.
